A Brief Description of what Chakras Are…and What’s the Aura Got to Do With It?

Chakras are circles of energy. Their function is to balance and store energy and to keep that energy flowing right through the human body and the subtle body.

The Subtle Body

Your Chakras and Your Aura - Chakras - PsychicStudent.comThe subtle body – the non-physical one which overlays our physical one – is called the aura. The aura has seven layers. Each layer of the aura holds different information.

Each of the seven layers of the aura correspond to one of the seven chakras.

It is the energies from the seven chakras that produce the seven layers of the aura. The distance that the aura emanates from our physical body is affected by our physical, emotional and spiritual health.

Already, you can see how important balance is. If your chakras are out of whack then your aura will be too.

Are Auras and Chakras the Same Thing?

No. They are connected and influence each other but auras and chakras are not the same thing. Chakras can be seen as swirling discs of energy which act as pathways for energy to be absorbed and metabolised. Your aura is an energy field that encases your body like subtle layers of cloud.

Why are They Called Chakras?

Sanskrit is a very ancient Indian language. The Sanskrit word for circle, disk, spinning wheel or vortex is Chakra.

What do Chakras Look Like?

Chakra crystal bracelet - Chakras - PsychicStudent.comNow that is a difficult question. To visualize a chakra in your body, imagine a swirling wheel of energy where your physical matter and consciousness meet. This invisible energy is called Prana. It’s a vital life force and it keeps us vibrant, healthy, and alive.

Each chakra has a colour and a position in the human body. Knowing these colours and positions helps us to visualize them as best we can. Many people find that performing a Chakra Meditation helps them to see their auras more clearly.

Others like to wear a crystal chakra bracelet or chakra necklace to enhance their chakras and to remind them of the powerful energies at work.

Where Did the Belief in Chakras Come From?

As you may imagine, belief in Chakras goes back a very long way. The belief originated in India and was first recorded as being used in Ayurvedic medicine. The earliest Ayurvedic records go back to 2500 BC. In yoga, meditation and Ayurveda, the word Chakra refers to energy wheels throughout the body.

Don’t you love how answering one question just brings more questions? You’ll never be bored as a Psychic – there is a lifetime of learning.

What does Ayurvedic Mean?

Sanskrit again. This time, the Ayur part means life and the veda is knowledge, so Ayurveda is life knowledge.  Ayurvedic medicine – also known simply as Ayurveda – is one of the world’s oldest holistic (whole-body) healing systems. It was developed thousands of years ago in India.

The Wonderful Balance of Ayurveda

Auyrveda natural herbal remedies - Chakras - PsychicStudent.comAyurveda believes that health and wellness both depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. The main focus of Ayurvedic medicine is to promote good health, rather than fight disease.

Having said that, Ayurvedic treatments may be recommended for specific health problems. Ayurveda is considered a form of complementary and/or alternative medicine.

It sees illness as caused by something being uneven in the body. This unevenness is treated with many methods including herbal treatments, physical exercise and meditation.

Healing Poorly Chakras

Sometimes, this uneveness is caused by Chakras being out of alignment, blocked or unbalanced. They can be healed, realigned, unblocked and balanced in many different ways. These include

  • Chakra aromatherapy oils - Chakras - PsychicStudent.comMeditation
  • Visualization
  • Yoga
  • Reiki
  • Sound
  • Sight using yantras or mandalas – yep, more questions :)
  • Smell using aromatherapy
  • Touch using spiritual healing

I will be writing more about yantras and mandalas but just for now – I’m trying to stay focussed on Chakras.
